Children's Day 2019 Indonesia

Known as Hari Anak Nasional in Indonesian, National Children’s Day is celebrated in Indonesia on 23 July. It is based on both International and Universal Children’s Day, however, the themes may differ slightly according to government policy. Differences aside, the day remains as a day to raise awareness of issues in Indonesian children, such as education, safety, and overall welfare.

National Children’s Day began in 1986, though the Presidential Decision was officially signed on 1984. Within the Decision, the goals of National Children’s Day are to provide children with character development that will supplement their formal and informal education, and to raise awareness (for parents and stakeholders) of social issues that affect children.

Every year, the government holds a national event related to National Children’s Day with a different theme. In 2015, the theme was “Creating a Child-Friendly Family and Environment”. Across the country, local organizations hold events for children which often involve singing, sports, arts and crafts, and performances from the children.
